ITA Monthly Webinar: Beyond Performance: Building Resilience and Identity for Clean Sport
Webinar description:
In this webinar, Dr Lennie Waite, licensed psychologist, Certified Mental Performance Consultant and Olympian, will explore protective factors that can reduce athletes’ vulnerability to doping and support their commitment to clean sport. Drawing on research showing that doping is shaped by a balance of risk and protective influences, rather than a single cause, this session will highlight key buffers, including the importance of an identity beyond sport. Combining her elite athletic experience with psychological expertise, Dr Waite will translate this evidence into practical strategies to help athletes strengthen resilience, navigate pressure, and build a well-rounded identity beyond performance. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions live during the webinar.
As always, the webinar will be delivered in English with simultaneous translation available in Arabic (العربية), French (français), Russian (русский), and Spanish (español).

WADA launches 2027 Code Companion for Athletes
Source: WADA-ADA Communications
Montreal, 29 June 2026
With the 1 January 2027 implementation date of the 2027 World Anti-Doping Code (Code) approaching, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is pleased to announce the launch of the 2027 Code Companion for Athletes in English and French1. This new e-learning course is now available on WADA’s Anti-Doping Education and Learning (ADEL) platform as an education solution for Anti-Doping Organizations (ADOs) to support their education efforts with athletes ahead of the 2027 Code coming into effect.
This new course provides a dynamic education opportunity for athletes to explore the key changes to the 2027 Code and the International Standards, covering topics such as education, testing, Therapeutic Use Exemptions, results management, data protection, and investigations. In addition to informing athletes of the new changes, the course also covers why these changes are important and how they will impact athletes. The ultimate goal of the course is to proactively help athletes make informed decisions, understand their rights and responsibilities, and compete clean.
WADA’s Athlete Council (AC) was involved in the review of the course, providing invaluable feedback that helped ensure the content and structure of the course are athlete centered in practice.
WADA’s AC Chair, Ryan Pini, said: “The 2027 Code Companion is a great way for ADOs to help educate and inform athletes about changes that are coming in 2027. The course strikes the right balance between informative and engaging and is well suited to a broad athlete audience regardless of their prior knowledge of the Code. I applaud WADA’s Education team on the creation of this course and I feel confident that athletes taking the course will come away with a greater awareness of their rights and responsibilities under the 2027 Code.”
WADA’s Director of Education, Amanda Hudson, said: “As part of our ongoing efforts to support the anti-doping community prepare for the 2027 Code and Standards, we are excited to publish this Code Companion designed specifically for athletes. This follows the recent publishing of the first suite of Code Implementation Support Program (CISP) resources on ADEL. The Code Companion can help ADOs ensure their athletes are aware of the upcoming changes and what they mean for them. We are grateful to the Athlete Council and those who supported the development process. We encourage all ADOs to use this course to help athletes prepare for the new Code and Standards.”
1 The Code Companion is the only course published on ADEL that reflects the 2027 Code and Standards. Existing ADEL courses are in the process of being updated to reflect the 2027Code and Standards. While the core updated courses will be made available for translation in advance of 1 January upon request (ADEL power users only), they will only be published and live on ADEL in January 2027.
