WORLD SHOOT XV - BALI
"An Adventure in Paradise"

If you were to listen to the news from Bali, you would think people were talking about the UN Climate Change Conference. Let me say, I was in Bali and believe me, everything I heard was about World Shoot XV next year!

I spent the first part of a week in Denpasar with World Shoot XV Match Director, Mr. Djoko Soeroso (pronounced Joe-ko) and his organizing committee going over their plans for next year. I must tell you that their starting premise is to host the BEST WORLD SHOOT EVER HELD. That certainly works for me!

As you can imagine we discussed countless numbers of topics and here are some of the highlights in no particular order.

The match dates have been set for mid-October as follows:
October 19-20 Level I Range Officer Seminar
October 21  Level II Chief Range Officer Seminar
October 20-25  Adventure tours will be available
   October 22-24  Pre-Match
   October 25  IPSC General Assembly
   October 26  Opening Ceremonies
October 27-1  WSXV Competition (half-day format)
   November 2  Shoot-off, Awards Ceremonies

There will be high quality Armscor IPSC Ammo at World Shoot and assurances from meetings with Armscor that this ammo will be available to ship to individual Regions immediately in the New year.

There will be airport VIP Red Carpet arrival arrangements for competitors including pre-arranged transportation to the match hotels.

Individual once-in-a-lifetime adventure tours are being coordinated for the days before the match and after. During the match, half-day trips and special day trips for family members are also being arranged.

The beautiful beach-front match hotels are four and five star luxury at less than three star prices.

World Shoot XV will revolve around offering competitors an unforgettable Balinese Five-Star "adventure in paradise" from beginning to end.

AUSTRALASIA (THAILAND)

The IPSC Australasia Handgun Championship did not just raise the bar to a new level, it shattered the bar! In over twenty years I have never seen the level of organization and attention to detail I saw at this match. I know that people will be talking about and comparing to the "2007 Thai Australasia" for many, many years to come.

I salute the Regional Director "Mao" and all his organization committee members for hosting truly one of the greatest IPSC events of all time.

Did someone say "IPSC Southeast Asia Championship" in 2009?

Signing off from Bangkok...

Keep the faith,
DVC

IPSC Cuddle Bears

Over 2300 distressed and upset children visiting the Emergency Department at Cavaillon Hospital in France will be given an adorable teddy bear for them to keep - thanks to the efforts of IPSC members.

This grand initiative is intended to help relieve the distress of children visiting hospital emergency centers and is supported by the worldwide members of IPSC.

The program fulfils a long-term goal of the IPSC President who has wanted to involve the confederation in a community charity project and particularly one that would benefit children. The initiative will provide direct and instant comfort to children at a difficult and distressing time.

Alexakos said, "It is a simple format. We hope the Cuddle Bears will help the dedicated medical staff at emergency centres to carry out their most important work and hopefully at the same time, in our small way, help to relieve the suffering of distressed children. We are enthusiastically looking forward to extending the program to other hospitals around the world and with the continued support of IPSC members we hope that this can carry on for many years to come".
